The Best Foods for Healthy Skin, Hair and Nails

You too can have healthy, glowing skin and strong nails! Of course we can cheat enhance our natural beauty with makeup and other beauty cosmetics, but the best way to create healthy hair and nails is through our diet.
Diet plays a huge part in making out hair and nails grow stronger, longer and thicker, as well as making our skin smooth and look younger.
Below is a list of my top 5 foods for improving your skin hair and nails:

Water rich fruits

Such as rockmelon and watermellon help to keep you hydrated, making lines less visible. Vitamin C from water rich fruits aids collagen formation, improving your skin's elasticity.

Nuts high in Omega 3

The essential fatty acid found in foods high in omega 3, such as almonds and walnuts, helps to guard against free radicals which cause you to age quicker.

Chickpeas (legumes)

The protein in chickpeas helps the body produce amino acids essential for tissue growth and repair. this means your skin will heal scars and scratches faster as well as reducing dark patches of skin. 

Salmon

Salmon is one of the best food sources for omega-3 fatty acids. Salmon also has selenium and vitamin D Selenium helps to protect the skin from sun exposure and vitamin D helps to keeps your hair and nails strong.

Tomatoes

Tomatoes are one of the highst sources containing anti-aging antioxidant lycopene. Lycopene also helps the skin's  to protect itself against harmful UV rays, reducing sunburn risk and premature ageing.

The Bobbi Brown Ten-Step Guide to Perfect Makeup


 
Pre-Makeup:
Use a lightweight oil free moisturizer to hydrate the skin, and a lightweight eye cream.


Step 1: Corrector/Concealer
For very dark undereye circles, start with a corrector to cut through the darkness under the eye. Next, use a yellow-toned concealer one shade lighter to brighten the undereye area.

 
Step 2: Foundation
Apply foundation only on areas that need to be evened out with your fingers or a makeup sponge.

Step 3: Powder/Bronzer
Set your concealer with loose powder. If you have an oily t-zone, apply powder to the rest of your face. Dust a bronzer over cheeks, forehead, nose and chin to add warmth to the skin.

 Step 4: Blush
Smile and dust a neutral shade of blush on the apples of the cheeks. Blend up towards the hairline then downwards to soften color. Layer a pop of bright blush only on the apples for a longer lasting look.

 Step 5: Lipstick/Gloss
For the most flattering lipstick shade, use the natural coloring of your lips as a guide choose a color that matches or is slightly darker than your lips

Step 6: Lipliner
Line your lips after applying lip color to avoid feathering and add natural-looking definition. Use a lip brush to soften and blend any hard edges.

 Step 7: Brows
Define brows with a shadow that matches your hair color. Begin at the inner corner of the brow and follow its natural shape using light, feathery strokes. To soften too-harsh brow color, press loose powder onto brows with a powder puff.

 Step 8: Eyeshadow
Sweep a light eyeshadow color from lashline to browbone using a brush. Dust a medium color on the lower lid and up to the crease.

 Step 9: Eyeliner
Line the upper lashline with a dark eyeshadow. Dampen the brush before dipping into eyeshadow for a longer-lasting look. Alternatively, use a gel eyeliner. If you line the lower lashline, make sure the top and bottom liner meet at the outer corner of the eye.

 Step 10: Mascara
Curl your lashes and apply mascara by brushing from the base to tip. Roll the wand to separate lashes and avoid clumps.

How to apply under-eye concealer

Under-eye concealer in normally applied after color corrector. Concealer should be one or two shades lighter than your foundation and yellow intone to blend as it lightens. Normally concealer is set with a yellow toned loose powder, however if you have really light skin you may need a white toned powder.

Choosing under-eye colour corrector and application



Eye color correctors are used for used to correct extreme under-eye darkness. Corrector can be peach or pink toned. Make sure it is applied up to the lashes and in the inner corner space between the eye and the bridge of the nose. If your skin is pale choose the lightest colors, beginning with bisque or light pink. for deeper skin tomes, choose peach or darker peach.
Even if you don't have alot of darkness under your eyes, you can still use corrector to brighten the eyes.

To apply your corrector begin at the inner corner of the eye and continue outwards, remaining close to the lashes. Gently blend using your ring finger (this is your most gentle finger) apply concealer if required.

How to apply gel polish - with photos!


Gel polish is the latest trend that gives you glamerous nail colour. Nail colour can suposedly last up to 14 days! this nail innovation takes out the dry-time of traditional manicures and resists against chipping. Gel pollish has many different names such as: O.P.I gel pollish, shellac, bluesky or gellish but they are all basicly the same product for different brands.

Gel polish glides on like normal nail polish but sets instantly like gel. Another benefit of gel polish is the removal. unlike gel nails where scraping and sanding can ruin your nail bed, gel polish soaks off.

The Dandelion Daydreamer; Soft, romantic curls and a floral crown

I've just come across this beautiful romantic half up hairstyle, and i just L.O.V.E. the flattering curls with the flower headband.I call it The Dandelion Daydreamer, after the dress the model wears. It would be perfect for a semi casual romantic date, festival or a fun springtime look. The floral crown adds a fairytale feeling to this pretty style!

Taylor swift posts video of herself without makeup


Taylor has gone makeup free, letting fans have a glimpse of her life at home. Taylor uploaded a vido of her self watching the 1997 classic Titanic with her cat Meredith.
she comments that at 9pm shes either on stage or doing this...


Taylors tinted red lips look like she has just removed her makeup. I think its bold of her to go makeup free, what do you think?

Oatmeal Hair Mask



An oatmeal hair mask is one of the simplest hair treatment you can make. It's a bit of a mess to clean up, so make sure you prepare for that in advance – but, I promise, the results are worth it!


 



1/2 cup oats - more if you have long hair

1-2 tablespoons of almond oil
quarter to a half a cup of milk.

  1. Mix everything together.
  2. Make sure your hair is tangle free and dry, and apply the hair mask from root to tip. 
  3. Leave it on for 15-20 minutes, rinse with warm water, and shampoo as usual.
How often can i use this hair mask?
By using this treatment once a week or every other week, depending on your hair, you'll see the maximum results!

Yogurt and oatmeal deep cleansing face mask




 Yogurt has been used for centuries for its health giving properties. Here, live, organic yogurt is mixed with finely ground oatmeal and a little honey for an all purpose face mask. this face mask is suited to all skin types, and is both cleansing and rejuvenating. if you have any doubt about which face mask to use, this is the one to go for.


1 tbsp finely ground oatmeal
1 tbsp live, organic yogurt
1 small tsp honey

  1. Place the oatmeal in a bowl. Add the yogurt and mix to a spreadable consistency.
  2. Warm the honey in a small glass bowl. pour into the yogurt and oatmeal mixture and blend the ingredients thoroughly.
  3. Immediately apply the yogurt and oatmeal mask to a cleansed face and rest for ten to fifteen minutes.
  4. Finally, wash off the mask with warm water and apply a toner and moisturiser.

Honey and almond moisturizing face mask




The combination of honey and ground almonds makes this mask smell good enough to eat! although it feels very sticky, and takes a lot of washing off, this is nonetheless a wonderful face mask, and worth the effort. The honey and almond moisturising face mask is particularly good for sensitive or dry skin, but is suitable for all skin types.

Avocado Enriching Facemask



This is one of the simplest face masks to make as it only has one ingredient! Avocado is very nourishing for the skin, and this mask is especially good for mature, wrinkled and dry skin, although its suitable for all skin types. Make sure you use a ripe, fresh (organic - if possible) avocado for the best effect.
If there is any avocado left over from making the mask, don't waste it - eat it! Avocado is one of natures gifts and its good for our health, both inside our bodies and outside on ours skin.



1 very ripe avocado

  1. Peel the avocado and remove the stone. Chop up the avocado and put it in a small glass bowl.
  2. Using a fork, mash the avocado to a creamy pulp, making sure you break down any lumps.
  3. apply the avocado mask immediately to a cleansed face, and rest for ten minutes.
  4. finally, wash off the mask with warm water and apply a toner and moisturiser.
